What is a trailer hitch?
Many different terms are used to refer to a trailer hitch (coupling device, ball, drawbar, hitch). A trailer hitch refers to the part attached to the underside of the vehicle and fitted with a ball.
Is a ball a hitch?
No, the common name is a trailer hitch; the ball is part of the hitch and is where your trailer attaches.
What do vertical weight and pull weight mean?
Vertical weight is the weight you put on the ball of a hitch. Pull weight is the vehicle's towing capacity.
When should I fit electric brakes?
When the weight of the rear load is at least half the weight of the vehicle. Example: if your trailer weighs 2000 lbs. and your vehicle 4000 lbs., you must use electric brakes.
Can I tow a trailer with a 2000 lb hitch (class 1)?
No, your vehicle could be seriously damaged and is not designed for such a heavy load.
Can I install a bike rack on all trailer hitches?
Yes, but you need to buy the right bike rack for your vehicle. There's no guarantee that your vehicle will be able to accommodate the bike rack you want.
Example: A 4-bike rack cannot be installed on the ball of a trailer hitch with a towing capacity of less than 3500 lb. Always consult the Owner's Manual.
Do I need to install a safety strap if I have a bike rack on my trailer hitch?
For maximum safety and to avoid swinging, we suggest using a strap for racks of 3 bikes or more.
Can I tow my vehicle behind my RV?
Several vehicles can be towed by an RV. However, this question must be clarified with the seller BEFORE the vehicle is purchased.
When should I have electrical wiring installed on my vehicle?
When you need to tow a trailer, a boat, a caravan or anything else that requires the function of your lights.
Is a vehicle's electrical wiring a universal system?
No, there are several types of light converters. (Refer to the electrical wiring recommended by SRG).
Does SRG install fifth wheels?
No, SRG specializes solely in the manufacture of trailer hitches to be installed under vehicles.
Is my trailer hitch protected against rust?
Every trailer hitch manufactured at SRG is sandblasted and powder coated in a 460-degree oven to prolong the life of the paint.
Does SRG deliver to your home?
